А в 1999 году ростовское издательство «Феникс» выпустило мою книгу «Блатные песни с комментариями Фимы Жиганца», где обращалось внимание на то, что песня «Постой, паровоз, не стучите, колёса» является переделкой дореволюционной - «Вот тронулся поезд в далёкую сторонку». Речь в ней ведётся от лица солдата, которому дали отпуск на три дня для прощания с матерью:
