30 годовщину аварии на Чернобыльской АЭС отмечают сегодня в России, Белоруссии и Украине. ЧП стало крупнейшей катастрофой в истории атомной энергетики. Радиацией было заражено более 200 тысяч квадратных километров земли. Десятки поселков и городков покинуты людьми: из тридцатикилометровой зоны отчуждения были эвакуированы более сотни тысяч человек. Осенью 86-го вокруг разрушенных конструкций четвертого энергоблока возвели бетонный саркофаг – в настоящее время он нуждается в срочном ремонте или в ускоренных темпах строительства навеса над ним, - рассказывает член союза "Чернобыль" России Александр Великин.

Тем временем, правительство Украины собирается соорудить над старым саркофагом новое укрытие. Его монтаж начнут предстоящей осенью и завершат в следующем году. После того, как будет готов новый купол, старый разберут и захоронят. В этой работе украинцам помогают французы и американцы. В России новые могильники не одобряют. Они могут ухудшить ситуацию, - считает Владимир Комаров, главный инженер производственного объединения "Комбинат", которое занималось ликвидацией последствий аварии 30-летней давности.

По случаю годовщины Чернобыля в московской синагоге на Поклонной горе на 7 дней выключат свет и зажгут свечи. Одновременно на шести экранах можно будет видеть сменяющие друг друга карточки с именами и фотографиями ликвидаторов.
