В основе Adagio molto — каркас одночастного инструментального концерта с 2 темами, «виртуозной» каденцией и противопоставлением солирующего инструмента ансамблю. Название обусловлено достаточно медленным основным темпом, но оно подчёркивает и лирическую сторону сочинения, скрытую и сломленную внешней жёсткостью изложения материала и «некоторыми заведомо провокационными музыкальными жестами».

The name is due to the rather slow main tempo, but it also emphasizes the lyrical side of the composition, hidden and broken by the external rigidity of the presentation of the material and "some obviously provocative musical gestures."
