Первый альбом группы вышел в 1983 году, и за 20 с лишним лет вышло всего 4 альбома. Правда, у её лидера Хови Гелб есть ещё одна группа (Giant Sand) и сольный проект, но второй участник проекта, Райнер Птасек, нигде больше не занят. Группа играет странную, медленную музыку в стиле кантри/вестерн. Однообразные, повторяющиеся строчки в текстах немного напоминают манеру Captain Beefhart, а условия записи максимально приближены к естественным - песни записывались в машинах, провинциальных студиях, коридорах, а также на сцене. Используются классические для жанра инструменты - кубинская гармоника, бандонеон, мексиканская гитара (mariachi), джазовый бас и расстроенное фортепиано.
