В повести «Записки из подполья» (1864) Ф.М. Достоевский ставит вопрос о взаимоотношениях отдельной личности и окружающего мира. Очень ярко и выразительно писатель показывает исповедь человека с трагически разорванным сознанием, оттенки и движения его души. Герой повести “Записки из подполья” - подпольный человек - собирательный образ, некий тип маленького человека. Подпольный человек замкнут, озлоблен, он не может реализовать себя, не видит живой жизни, а ощущает лишь ее фальшь, глупость, растление. Он не хочет, как все окружающие, подчиниться законам необходимости, принять общепризнанные правила; по его мнению, человек должен свободно отдаваться своим желаниям и капризам, а не подчинять себя выгоде или математическому расчету. Ярко и выразительно описывая состояние героя, оттенки и движения его мысли, доводя до крайности сумбурность идей подпольного человека, Достоевский раскрывает глубокие противоречия в его душе.

The hero of the story "Notes from the Underground" - an underground man - a collective image, a kind of a small man. The underground man is closed, embittered, he can not realize himself, does not see a living life, but feels only her falsity, stupidity, corruption. He does not want, like everyone around him, to obey the laws of necessity, to accept generally accepted rules; in his opinion, a person must freely give himself to his desires and whims, and not to subordinate himself to profit or mathematical calculation. Brightly and expressively describing the hero's condition, the shades and movements of his thought, leading to the extreme confusion of the ideas of the underground man, Dostoevsky reveals deep contradictions in his soul.
