Слово народного комиссара по военным и морским делам товарища Троцкого.
Товарищи солдаты Красной армии ! 8 марта этого года пришел ко мне, в народный комиссариат по военным делам, старый татарин Бурлаев (?) родом из Самарской губернии. Явился он в Москву по воле своих односельчан- трудовых татарских крестьян и со слезами на глазах благодарил Советскую власть за освобождение Самарской губернии от дутовских банд. Вот что он сказал мне:
«Когда у нас стояли в селе казаки, много мы горя натерпелись. Казацкие офицеры не только забирали у нас лошадей, скот, хлеб, ничего не платя, особенно беднякам. Нет, мало того- они издевались над нами, преследовали нас, били, расстреливали! Нам, татарам, приходилось тяжелее всего.
Мы слышали о том, что Красная армия движется на Самарскую губернию, но не знали- будет ли нам лучше или хуже. Когда же село наше было покинуто казаками, и к нам вступили красноармейцы, мы сразу увидели, что это другой народ. Нас перестали обижать, солдаты с нами разговаривали по-братски, в селе и везде вокруг установился порядок. Мы свободно вздохнули и благословили Красную армию !»
Так сказал мне старый татарин, отец многочисленной семьи, и слушая эти слова, я, товарищи солдаты, испытывал чувство гордости за нашу Рабоче-Крестьянскую Красную армию. На этом маленьком примере обнаружился подлинный характер революционных войск, а также весь смысл этой войны, какую мы вынуждены вести. С одной стороны буржуазные...войска, представляют на деле куда бы они не пришли везде и всюду худшую форму неправды, которая была при царях, угнетение бедноты. С другой стороны, Красные войска которые несут всем освобождение.
Помните же твёрдо: горе солдату, который не понимает своего назначения. А настоящему солдату Красной армии, который мужественно и честно защищает права и интересы бедноты – ему честь и слава, и благодарности трудящихся масс !
