When we were young the future was so bright
The old neighbourhood was so alive
And every kid on the whole damn street
Was gonna make it big and not be beat

Now the neighbourhood's cracked and torn
The kids are grown up but their lives are worn
How can one little street
Swallow so many lives

Chances thrown
Nothing's free
Longing for what used to be
Still it's hard
Hard to see
Fragile lives, shattered dreams
The kids aren't alright

Jamie had a chance, well she really did
Instead she dropped out and had a couple of kids
Mark still lives at home cause he's got no job
He just plays guitar and smokes a lot of pot

Jay committed suicide
Brandon od'd and died
What the hell is going on
The cruellest damn, reality
When we were very young, the future was so bright.
Our old quarter was so alive,
And every child in our ancient cursed street
I was going to achieve success and not be offended.

Now our quarter is half-ruined and forgotten.
Children from there grew up, but their lives are just as worn out.
How could such a small street
To ruin so many lives ?!

The chances are lost,
Nothing is given for nothing.
Longing for what's left in the past ...
It's still hard,
Heavy to look:
Fragile life, broken dreams:
These children are not all right ...

Jamie had a chance, really was!
But instead she threw everything and got a couple of kids.
Mark still sits at home, because there is no work,
He only plays the guitar and smokes to the devil of marijuana.

Jay committed suicide,
Brandon ogreb overdose and died,
What the hell is going on ?!
This is a bloody cruel reality!
When we were young the future was so bright
The old neighbourhood was so alive
And every kid on the whole damn street
Was gonna make it big and not be beat

Now the neighbourhood's cracked and torn
The kids are grown up but their lives are worn
How can one little street
Swallow so many lives

Chances thrown
Nothing's free
Longing for what used to be
Still it's hard
Hard to see
Fragile lives, shattered dreams
The kids are not alright

Jamie had a chance, well she really did
Instead she was dropped out and had a couple of kids
Mark still lives at home cause he's got a job
He just plays guitar and smokes a lot of pot

Jay committed suicide
Brandon od'd and died
What the hell is going on
The cruellest damn, reality
