Композитор и мультиинструменталист, Крис Сфирис (Chris Spheeris), начал писать песни для гитары еще подростком. После того, как группа распалась, Сфирис начал создавать более сложные композиции для клавишных. К его музыкальным пристрастиям прибавляется увлечение электронной музыкой. В его мелодиях начинают появляться отголоски ambient музыки. Именно в этом жанре он записал несколько своих демонстрационных пленок.
Одна из этих пленок попала в поле зрения компании Columbia Records, с которой в 1985 году он и подписал контракт на издание своих альбомов. Под этим лейблом вышли дебютные альбомы Сфириса - "Desires Of The Heart" и "Pathways To Surrender", после чего Сфирис покинул их, чтобы основать свой собственный лейбл, Essence, под которым вышла большая часть его сольных альбомов и несколько, записанных после воссоединения с Паулем Воудоурисом - "Enchantment" и "Nothing But The Truth"
