Известность к Вадиму Мулерману пришла в 1966 году: он стал лауреатом Всесоюзного конкурса артистов эстрады с песней «Хромой король» (Александр Дулов — Морис Карем). Из-за идеологической цензуры, усмотревшей в песне намек на политическое руководство Советского Союза, пришлось исключить из песни последний куплет и изменить название на «Король-победитель».

На башне ждала королева, и вот
Платком она машет, завидев полк,

Король с войны возвратился домой.
Войну проиграл, полноги потерял,

Vadim Mulermanu fame came in 1966: he won the All-Union competition of performers with the song "King of Lame" (Alexander Dulov - Maurice Karem). Because of ideological censorship who found the song allusion to the political leadership of the Soviet Union, it had to be excluded from the final verse of the song, and change the name to "King-winner".
