Глава 28
1 Спасшись же, бывшие с Павлом узнали, что остров называется Мелит.
2 Иноплеменники оказали нам немалое человеколюбие, ибо они, по причине бывшего дождя и холода, разложили огонь и приняли всех нас.
3 Когда же Павел набрал множество хвороста и клал на огонь, тогда ехидна, выйдя от жара, повисла на руке его.
4 Иноплеменники, когда увидели висящую на руке его змею, говорили друг другу: верно этот человек -- убийца, когда его, спасшегося от моря, суд Божий не оставляет жить.
5 Но он, стряхнув змею в огонь, не потерпел никакого вреда.
6 Они ожидали было, что у него будет воспаление, или он внезапно упадет мертвым; но, ожидая долго и видя, что не случилось с ним никакой беды, переменили мысли и говорили, что он Бог.
7 Около того места были поместья начальника острова, именем Публия; он принял нас и три дня дружелюбно угощал.
8 Отец Публия лежал, страдая горячкою и болью в животе; Павел вошел к нему, помолился и, возложив на него руки свои, исцелил его.
9 После сего события и прочие на острове, имевшие болезни, приходили и были исцеляемы,
10 и оказывали нам много почести и при отъезде снабдили нужным.
11 Через три месяца мы отплыли на Александрийском корабле, называемом Диоскуры, зимовавшем на том острове,
12 и, приплыв в Сиракузы, пробыли там три дня.
13 Оттуда отплыв, прибыли в Ригию; и как через день подул южный ветер, прибыли на второй день в Путеол,
14 где нашли братьев, и были упрошены пробыть у них семь дней, а потом пошли в Рим.
15 Тамошние братья, услышав о нас, вышли нам навстречу до Аппиевой площади и трех гостиниц. Увидев их, Павел возблагодарил Бога и ободрился.
16 Когда же пришли мы в Рим, то сотник передал узников военачальнику, а Павлу позволено жить особо с воином, стерегущим его.
17 Через три дня Павел созвал знатнейших из Иудеев и, когда они сошлись, говорил им: мужи братия! не сделав ничего против народа или отеческих обычаев, я в узах из Иерусалима предан в руки Римлян.
18 Они, судив меня, хотели освободить, потому что нет во мне никакой вины, достойной смерти;
19 но так как Иудеи противоречили, то я принужден был потребовать суда у кесаря, впрочем не с тем, чтобы обвинить в чем-либо мой народ.
20 По этой причине я и призвал вас, чтобы увидеться и поговорить с вами, ибо за надежду Израилеву обложен я этими узами.
21 Они же сказали ему: мы ни писем не получали о тебе из Иудеи, ни из приходящих братьев никто не известил о тебе и не сказал чего-либо худого.
22 Впрочем желательно нам слышать от тебя, как ты мыслишь; ибо известно нам, что об этом учении везде спорят.
23 И, назначив ему день, очень многие пришли к нему в гостиницу; и он от утра до вечера излагал им учение о Царствии Божием, приводя свидетельства и удостоверяя их о Иисусе из закона Моисеева и пророков.
24 Одни убеждались словами его, а другие не верили.
25 Будучи же не согласны между собою, они уходили, когда Павел сказал следующие слова: хорошо Дух Святый сказал отцам нашим через пророка Исаию:
26 пойди к народу сему и скажи: слухом услышите, и не уразумеете, и очами смотреть будете, и не увидите.
27 Ибо огрубело сердце людей сих, и ушами с трудом слышат, и очи свои сомкнули, да не узрят очами, и не услышат ушами, и не уразумеют сердцем, и не обратятся, чтобы Я исцелил их.
28 Итак да будет вам известно, что спасение Божие послано язычникам: они и услышат.
29 Когда он сказал это, Иудеи ушли, много споря между собою.
30 И жил Павел целых два года на своем иждивении и принимал всех, приходивших к нему,
31 проповедуя Царствие Божие и уча о Господе Иисусе Христе со всяким дерзновением невозбранно.

Chapter 28
1 Having escaped, those with Pavel learned that the island is called Melita.
2 Foreigners have shown us considerable philanthropy, because they, because of the former rain and cold, spread fire and accepted all of us.
3 But when Paul gathered a great deal of firewood and laid it on the fire, then the echidna, coming out of the heat, hung on his hand.
4 When the tribesmen saw the serpent hanging on his hand, they said to each other: truly this man is a murderer, when he, having escaped from the sea, the court of God does not leave to live.
5 But he, shaking the snake into the fire, did not suffer any harm.
6 They expected that he would have inflammation, or he would suddenly fall dead; but, expecting for a long time and seeing that no trouble had happened to him, they changed their minds and said that he was God.
7 Near that place were the estates of the chief of the island, the name of Publius; He accepted us and gave us a friendly three days.
8 Publius' father lay suffering hot and with pain in his stomach; Paul went in to him, prayed, and laid his hands on him and healed him.
9 After this event, and the rest of the island that had diseases, came and were healed,
10 and provided us with many honors and provided the right thing upon departure.
11 Three months later we set sail on the ship of Alexandria, called the Dioscuri, wintering on that island.
12 and having sailed to Syracuse, we stayed there for three days.
13 sailed from there, arrived in Riga; and as the south wind blew in a day, arrived on the second day in Puteol,
14 Where they found the brothers, and were asked to stay with them for seven days, and then they went to Rome.
15 Having heard about us, the brothers there, we went out to meet Appiania Square and three hotels. Seeing them, Paul thanked God and took courage.
16 When we came to Rome, the centurion gave the prisoners to the captain, and Paul was allowed to live especially with the warrior who guarded him.
17 After three days Paul convened the noblest of the Jews, and when they came together, he said to them: Brethren, men! without having done anything against the people or the customs of the fathers, I was handed over to the Romans in bonds from Jerusalem.
18 They, judging me, wanted to set me free, because there is no fault in me worthy of death;
19 but since the Jews were contradictory, I was forced to demand a trial from Caesar, but not in order to accuse my people of anything.
20 For this reason, I called upon you to see you and talk with you, for I put a heavy burden on the hope of Israel.
21 And they said to him: We received no letters about you from Judea, and no one from the brothers who came came to inform you or say anything bad.
22 But it is advisable for us to hear from you how you think; for we know that people argue about this teaching everywhere.
23 And, having appointed him a day, many came to his hotel; and from morning till evening he expounded to them the doctrine of the kingdom of God, bringing testimonies and certifying them of Jesus from the law of Moses and the prophets.
24 Some were convinced by his words, but others did not believe.
25 But being disagreeing with one another, they left when Paul said the following words: well, the Holy Spirit said to our fathers through the prophet Isaiah:
26 Go to these people and say: hear with hearing, and you will not comprehend, and you will look with your eyes, and you will not see.
27 For the heart of these people was hardened, and they could hardly hear with their ears, and they closed their eyes, that they would not see the eyes, and they would not hear with their ears, and they would not understand with their heart, and they would not turn myself to I heal them.
28 Therefore let it be known to you that the salvation of God is sent to the Gentiles: they will hear.
29 When he said this, the Jews left, arguing much among themselves.
30 And Paul lived for two whole years at his own expense, and he received all who came to him.
31 preaching the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all audacity is impartial.
