1 На всей земле был один язык и одно наречие.
2 Двинувшись с востока, они нашли в земле Сеннаар равнину и поселились там.
3 И сказали друг другу: наделаем кирпичей и обожжем огнем. И стали у них кирпичи вместо камней, а земляная смола вместо извести.
4 И сказали они: построим себе город и башню, высотою до небес, и сделаем себе имя, прежде нежели рассеемся по лицу всей земли.
5 И сошел Господь посмотреть город и башню, которые строили сыны человеческие.
6 И сказал Господь: вот, один народ, и один у всех язык; и вот что начали они делать, и не отстанут они от того, что задумали делать;
7 сойдем же и смешаем там язык их, так чтобы один не понимал речи другого.
8 И рассеял их Господь оттуда по всей земле; и они перестали строить город [и башню].
9 Посему дано ему имя: Вавилон, ибо там смешал Господь язык всей земли, и оттуда рассеял их Господь по всей земле.
10 Вот родословие Сима: Сим был ста лет и родил Арфаксада, чрез два года после потопа;
11 по рождении Арфаксада Сим жил пятьсот лет и родил сынов и дочерей [и умер].
12 Арфаксад жил тридцать пять [135] лет и родил [Каинана. По рождении Каинана Арфаксад жил триста тридцать лет и родил сынов и дочерей и умер. Каинан жил сто тридцать лет, и родил] Салу.
13 По рождении Салы Арфаксад [Каинан] жил четыреста три [330] года и родил сынов и дочерей [и умер].
14 Сала жил тридцать [130] лет и родил Евера.
15 По рождении Евера Сала жил четыреста три [330] года и родил сынов и дочерей [и умер].
16 Евер жил тридцать четыре [134] года и родил Фалека.
17 По рождении Фалека Евер жил четыреста тридцать [370] лет и родил сынов и дочерей [и умер].
18 Фалек жил тридцать [130] лет и родил Рагава.
19 По рождении Рагава Фалек жил двести девять лет и родил сынов и дочерей [и умер].
20 Рагав жил тридцать два [132] года и родил Серуха.
21 По рождении Серуха Рагав жил двести семь лет и родил сынов и дочерей [и умер].
22 Серух жил тридцать [130] лет и родил Нахора.
23 По рождении Нахора Серух жил двести лет и родил сынов и дочерей [и умер].
24 Нахор жил двадцать девять [79] лет и родил Фарру.
25 По рождении Фарры Нахор жил сто девятнадцать [129] лет и родил сынов и дочерей [и умер].
26 Фарра жил семьдесят лет и родил Аврама, Нахора и Арана.
27 Вот родословие Фарры: Фарра родил Аврама, Нахора и Арана. Аран родил Лота.
28 И умер Аран при Фарре, отце своем, в земле рождения своего, в Уре Халдейском.
29 Аврам и Нахор взяли себе жен; имя жены Аврамовой: Сара; имя жены Нахоровой: Милка, дочь Арана, отца Милки и отца Иски.
30 И Сара была неплодна и бездетна.
31 И взял Фарра Аврама, сына своего, и Лота, сына Аранова, внука своего, и Сару, невестку свою, жену Аврама, сына своего, и вышел с ними из Ура Халдейского, чтобы идти в землю Ханаанскую; но, дойдя до Харрана, они остановились там.
32 И было дней жизни Фарры [в Харранской земле] двести пять лет, и умер Фарра в Харране.

1 On all the earth was one tongue and one dialect.
2 Moving from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there.
3 And they said one to another, Let us build bricks and burn them with fire. And they began to have bricks instead of stones, and earth resin instead of lime.
4 And they said, Let us build ourselves a city and a tower, which is high up to the heavens, and make ourselves a name, before we are scattered in the face of all the earth.
5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the children of men had built.
6 And the LORD said, Behold, one people, and one tongue all; and that's what they began to do, and they will not leave behind what they planned to do;
7 Let us go down and mix their language there, so that one does not understand the speech of the other.
8 And the LORD scattered them from thence throughout all the earth; and they stopped building the city [and the tower].
9 Therefore was given him the name of Babylon, for there the Lord confused the language of all the earth, and from there the Lord scattered them throughout all the earth.
10 This is the genealogy of Shem: Shem was a hundred years old, and begat Arpakshad, two years after the flood;
11 After the birth of Arphaxad, Shim lived five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters [and died].
12 And Arphaxad lived thirty-five years [135], and begat [Cainan. After the birth of Cainan, Arphaxad lived three hundred and thirty years and gave birth to sons and daughters and died. Kainan lived a hundred and thirty years, and gave birth to] Sala.
13 And after the birth of Sala Arphaxad [Kaynan] lived four hundred and three years [330], and begat sons and daughters [and died].
14 And Sala lived thirty years, and begat Eber.
15 After the birth of Eber, Salah lived four hundred and three years [330], and begat sons and daughters [and died].
16 And Eber lived thirty and four years, and fathered Phalek.
17 After the birth of Peleg, Eber lived four hundred and thirty years [370] years, and begat sons and daughters [and died].
18 And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Ragab.
19 After the birth of Rahab, Peleg lived two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters [and died].
20 And he lived thirty-two years, and begat Serug.
21 After the birth of Serug, Ragav lived two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters [and died].
22 And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor.
23 And after the birth of Nahor, Serukh lived two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters [and died].
24 Nahor lived twenty-nine [79] years and gave birth to Farr.
25 And after the birth of Terah, Nahor lived a hundred and nineteen [129] years, and begat sons and daughters [and died].
26 And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Aran.
27 This is the genealogy of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Aran. Aran gave birth to Lot.
28 And Aran died at Terah his father, in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldees.
29 Abram and Nahor took wives to themselves; the name of Abram's wife: Sarah; the name of Nakhorova's wife: Milka, the daughter of Aran, Milka's father and Iska's father.
30 And Sarah was barren and childless.
31 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot, the son of Haran his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, the wife of Abram his son, and went out with them from Ur of the Chaldeans, to go into the land of Canaan; but when they reached Harran, they stopped there.
32 And the days of the life of Terah [in Haran's land] were two hundred and five years, and Farah died in Haran.
