Шёл солдат с войны, шёл к себе домой.
От семи смертей убежал живой.
Нёс семье гостинцев в рюкзаке потёртом.
У околицы встретился сосед,
Обнял и сказал: "Дома больше нет,
Мать, отца, сестру не вернуть из мёртвых".
И в этот светлый день он сошёл с ума
И молчал два дня и две ночи.
И лишь на третий день ушёл, взяв автомат -
Понял вдруг солдат, чего хочет.
Пересёк границу, пришёл в страну,
С кем ещё недавно вели войну -
Голод да стервятники, снег да кочки.
Стал искать деревню подходящую,
Меж двух рек у леса лежащую,
Дом, где живут мать, отец и дочка.
И в этот светлый день он сошёл с ума
И молчал два дня и две ночи.
И лишь на третий день ушёл, взяв автомат -
Понял вдруг солдат, чего хочет.
- Вот и я пришёл - поквитаться бы!
Я для вас такой же хочу судьбы -
Станете вы плакать за гибель близких!
И в глаза глядят, и молчат в ответ
Девушка, старуха и безногий дед,
И на бедной скатерти пустая миска.
И молча сев на стул, он сошёл с ума,
Развязал рюкзак и разулся.
И в угол зашвырнул штык и автомат:
"Я принёс поесть, я вернулся"
